Although your consciousness may be collaborating with your brain, I personally believe that your mind resides within your body, specifically within the seven energy centres located across the length of your body. This ancient energetic system is also referred to as Chakra's in Sanskrit, which means vortex of light. Each of your seven centres relates to a specific emotional, mental, and physical attribute. A summary of each centre is offered below: 


Root 
Located at the base of your spine
Relates to your sense of security, stability, vitality, tribe and safety 
Governs home, family, food, ancestry
Physical manifestation: hemorrhoids, sciatica, colon and rectum disease and disorder, body dysmorphia, obesity and weight related problems, hoarding and obsessive compulsive disorders 
Shadow emotion: Shame 

Sacral  
Located below your belly button
Relates to your sense of abundance, fertility and creativity  
Governs money, relationships, desire   
Physical manifestation: infertility, reproductive related disease and disorder, hormonal imbalance, menstruation disorders and imbalances, hoarding and obsessive compulsive disorders

Solar Plexus

Relates to your sense of courage, fear, power and self-worth     
Governs the personality, ego and identity
